The Spring Playwrights’ Festival supported by a National Endowment for the Arts Fastrack Grant will include:

Six Plays in 60 (+) Minutes
6 new one act plays, selected from 137 entries by the NPP Programming Committee and Board: Fri 5/30- Sun 6/1.

Meryl Cohn is the author of “Show Me Yours”, Three men in a diner who share the distinction of a surprising connection.

Jerry Thompson, has penned “Propositions”, a laugh-filled tale of how the best planned con job can be thrown off track.

Joan Lipkin, St. Louis, MO, with “The Date”, showing two guys at the end of a first date wondering what’s next.

George Sauer, Dedham, MA, with “Small Window” a comic portrayal of the unraveling of a culinary scam.

Barbara Lindsay, Seattle, WA with “Canyon’s Edge”, which demonstrates how remorse can be transformed into a healing intervention at the brink of the Grand Canyon.

John Kern, Charlotte, VT, with “Birthday Wishes” A post-mortem birthday celebration reveals how little we may really know about someone close to us.

The winning entries were selected from more than 140 plays from across the country that NPP received in response to a call for submissions last December.

Their works will be staged at the Provincetown Theater, 238 Bradford Street, on Thursday-Sunday May 29-June 1 on the first weekend of the festival. The second and third weekend, June 5-8, and June 12-15, will be devoted to staging and discussions of acclaimed Cape Cod playwright Wendy Kesselman’s play, “The Notebook”.

“Art Performance with Robert Cardinal”

NPP fundraiser event Saturday June 28 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
Renowned artist Robert Cardinal will paint a full-sized work, accompanied by acoustic musicians. He will comment and interact with patrons as they enjoy an assortment of tasty appetizers and beverages. A drawing will conclude the event, and the newly-created painting will go home with one lucky patron. Tickets $150.00.
